not surprisingly after viewing the "vote for president" thing on the side of the blog i noticed that a few of our family members were confused about the choices. i feel compelled to point out some things that every American, and certainly every Williams derived American should remember when expressing their political views and making their ultimate choice for president.
one of the primary beliefs of the democrat party is to collect taxes and redistribute the wealth among those less fortunate. what this means to us, the workinig people and business owners of the country, is more taxes.. the harder we work and ultimately the more successful we are, the more we are taxed, so that it can be distributed amongst a terrible array of govt social welfare programs. now, it is important to note that some of these programs are needed, good, and productive. through my 6 + years at the sheriff's office i dealt with mostly people who are recipients of these programs. most of these folks could work but chose not to. simply because it honestly paid better for them to stay at home, have extra kids that they did not care for, and collect extra money for cigarettes, beer, etc, etc. as a tax paying American i have a huge problem with this.
another real problem is wasteful spending by govt. this is common between both republicans and democrats, but historically, republicans lessen taxes on taxpayers, which stimulates the economy, creates jobs, allows the people to keep more of their own money. democrats raise taxes. if you will remember thru your history lessons, our country freed itself from unfair taxation.
hillary is most likely done. she has finally proven herself a liar, saying or writing whatever it takes to reach her goals. that leaves us with obama. although i realize he has much appeal with all because he is young, smooth, energetic and preaches a message of hope and change. the fact of the matter is all presidential candidates preach this message. this election should not be a popularity contest, sadly enough it is though. he does not have the experience or the "clean" background" needed to run the country. there is questions of his patriotism which are very valid. it is too easily forgotten that on sept 11, 2001, America was attacked which since put us in a vigilent state of war on terror. i don't think anybody can argue that we should not have gone to iraq, but we did. fact of the matter is, America was attacked and we were looking for somebody's ass to kick.. and we did... we have got to redirect our efforts to the original mission in afghanistan. should we not have a president who understands war and sacrifice???? john mccain is certainly not the most likable candidate we could have, but he will do the best job, keep our tax cuts in place, retain our gun rights, finish the fiasco in iraq appropriately.
what we all must do is choose the lesser of the evils....for the non-muslim american, the non-illegal alien, the business owner, the farmer, and the employed, the choice is clear, john mccain. i have faith in u all. we are all educated, intelligent people but in this election we must do what is right for the country.
i must now brace myself for vicki's scathing review!!!!!!

I will just say this: You got your way the past 7 years, and look where we're at. Maybe you don't know best. Republicans preach fewer taxes, but we are now so deep in debt from this war that it will be Cooper's grandkids who are still paying for it. Republicans don't have the populist message, so they resort to a message that appeals to the greedy by promising fewer taxes. But it's fiscally irresponsible.
Yes we have had our way for seven years but keep in mind we were undoing the mess of the last 40 years of a democratically controlled congress. there is no doubt this war shouldn't have been fought and it has plunged us into drastic debt. but, i really take offense to the comment about the lower tax message that "appeals to the greedy". i work alot, i take risks, i have a desire to be financially successful and stable and provide for my familty, send the boys to college, have a decent home, etc......does this make me greedy???? does believing in the "american dream" make you greedy.... i don't think so and i don't think u do either....
the president is only a small piece of the puzzle, conngress spends the money, doles out appropriations. not the president. the republican controlled congress voted in the balanced budget act, not the dems.

Republicans were in control of congress for the final 6 years of the Clinton presidency, so not sure where you're getting your facts. Fox news, perhaps? ZING!
I don’t know how the Republicans have managed to convince struggling Americans that they’re better off with a conservative, rather than a liberal approach. Bush’s tax cuts overwhelmingly favored the wealthy. The rationale was that it would stimulate the economy. But all these years later, and we’re worse off than ever since WW II. The core Republicans are out to make sure the wealthy get wealthier. And yes, it’s all about greed. I’m not calling YOU greedy. You’re a good man, Charlie Brown.
We need a leader who will reach out to both sides to work together for progress. That's one big reason I don't support Hillary. For whatever reason she's polarizing. I'm in her demographic, and I can't even stand her. McCain seems like a good man. But he's not focused on the economy. And I think he's too old. If Bush's campaign hadn't started rumors about McCain's mental stability and that he fathered a black child 8 years ago, we'd be living in a very different world today, having 7 years behind us of a McCain or Gore presidency. I just think McCain is past his prime and the mess we’re in now needs someone with vision, intelligence and energy.
We'll, yet again, just have to agree to disagree.
Just in on my high speed taxpayer funded blackberry..last year democrats were behind 5,199 approps requests(commonly referred to as "pork") while republicans requested 3,408. now there aren't that many more dems than repubs to have such an unbalanced ratio of requests..so who is outspending who???

I voted for Hillary *gasps*..but honestly I like Obama and Hillary the same. McCain..I like him as a person but I don't agree with anything he has to say.
..as for any other response, I think I should probably just keep my mouth shut!!
